A Summon for Innocence

A Summon for Innocence

Len Kamei

A distant sound cried,
That, they had killed him.
Some people mourned,
But most were indifferent.

Was he something that,
They were better off without?
Some say, he did retard the growth,
Of knowledge, good and bad.

Now, he is killed,
And long forgotten,
Only to be weighed,
In citation to old ones past.

The new bearings, without him,
Is bent much too early,
Growing sensitive to perversion,
Malice and horror.

Protect them, hide them,
Bring them under the fold.
And most of all,
Summon back the innocence.
